"Remember the days when Joni, Jackson, James and Neil lived in the canyon?  That's exactly what you get with Rupert Wates...long may he run"
- Tom Semioli, Minor 7th Online

"His songs live not only by the strong lyrics but also by the high musical quality"
- Stefan Schmoe, Online Music Magazine

"To describe Rupert Wates as a singer/songwriter does not do him justice. You feel, not just hear his music and his lyrics. He is an experience."
- Eileen Batson, North Carolina Songwriters Co-Operative

Through 2008 and 2009, Rupert has pursued an extensive schedule of live work, averaging over 120 gigs a year, sometime solo, sometimes with his regular quartet. A summer tour in 2008 took in thirty cities in fifteen states from New York to California. In 2009, tour destinations have included Nashville, Memphis, St Louis, Cincinnati, Chicago, Philadelphia, major cities all along the eastern seaboard, and of course Wates' home base, New York City. In August, Wates will return to the UK for the first time in three years to play four shows at the Acoustic Music Centre, Edinburgh, as part of the International Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Meanwhile, Wates' albums 'Coast To Coast' (2007) and 'Dear Life' (2008) have gained outstanding reviews and both continue to be aired on collage and mainstream radio all over the world.  As of fall 2009, plans are being solidified for the recording of a new album, 'Joe's Cafe', in Brooklyn, New York.  The album is to comprise songs based on true stories, retelling the experience of ordinary American people from the dust bowl to the present day
